The final stop in our trip South was Gwang-ali Beach in Busan (Pusan). We drove around for a little while trying to find he right beach and then trying to find a hotel. We ended up paying more for the room than I ever have before, but we could have fit 2 1/2 of the first night's hotel room in the one room the second night. But it was worth it because by the time we got into the hotel with all out stuff it was after 10pm and we were beat. Ken took the night pictures (excuse his reflection) before we got settled in. The next morning we all slept in until about 8:30am, ate breakfast, and then headed down to he beach for about an hour. The water felt like an ice bath. I definitely prefer the much warmer water of the gulf and Atlantic Ocean. We had a good time though. Blake got all the way in and Cathryn waded and jumped some waves. James got his feet wet but didn't like it at all. He spent the remainder of the time out there either in my arms or Ken's or huddled under a blanket. He kept asking what time it was. Tate just walked around. We headed off the beach around 11am to clean up and check out by noon. We drove around Busan for over an hour trying to figure out where to go and finally found our way. We stopped once on the way home at a rest area for snacks and a pit stop. We made it home around 6:45pm, had dinner, and watched a movie until it was time for the fireworks on post. We watched the fireworks from the windows in the stairwell and up on the roof of the apartment building. It was a great trip and we're glad we got to see some of the country. We did all that driving on 1 tank of gas. Here's the link to the route we took: (I hope it works.)
The view from our hotel room.
Eating breakfast.
Getting ready to get wet!
James not getting wet. :)
Tate being clingy.
The sand was made up of crushed seashells and coarser sand than the beaches back home. It didn't stick as much to you either.
Tate loves shoes. He whined until I put Bri's (the daughter of the other family that we followed on the trip) sandals on him. Then he was happy.
Cathryn getting ready to jump the waves.
Blake running away from the waves.
James & Tate not knowing what to do really. You can see some of James' war wounds from the waterfall trip. Although the big scratch on his head is from falling off the bed.
Playing.
Lifeguard stand.
Tunnel on the way home. One of the many.
Ken bought this Cherryade at a rest stop. It's SO good! Almost like Cherry kool aid, but not as sweet. Still has the sweet and sour taste of cherries though.
Lemonade. Not as sweet as in the states, but SO good!
Rice field about 5 minutes away from home. When Ken's parents were here, they were just barely flooding the field to get ready for planting. Now they're about half grown. It also meant we were close to home!!! YAY!
Our 4th of July dinner consisted of boiled hot dogs for the kids, and nothing really for me & Ken. We snacked a bunch so weren't really hungry. Great end to a great trip! Thanks to the Symmes' for letting us tag along!
