Christmas 2010 was wonderful! We started out Christmas Eve night watching "Mr. Kruger's Christmas" and "The Nativity". We then read some of Luke Chapter 2 and we quizzed the kids on different parts of the Nativity story to see how much they were paying attention. We talked about the gift that we can give Christ, loving and serving others. We then let the kids pick one present from under the tree for the older 3 to open. Blake and Cathryn bought each other presents from the school's Santa's Workshop. They put some thought into buying the presents and did a good job picking something the other would enjoy. The kids put out birthday cake, cookies, and egg nog for Santa. After the kids were asleep, Ken & I brought out the presents from us and laid out the stockings for Santa to fill.
Christmas morning, Blake woke us up at 6am on the dot. We waited for James and Tate to wake up before we let them opening anything, including what Santa had brought them. We did let them open what was in their stockings. Cathryn & Blake played the part of the elves, handing out one present to everyone and then we would all just rip the paper off. We all had a great time opening presents and playing with our new toys. Everyone was very excited and surprised by their gifts. A lot of thought was put into choosing things the receiver would enjoy, and it paid off. We are happy to be able to be together this Christmas. It is wonderful to create new traditions, and keep up with the old traditions. I am so glad that we were able to celebrate the birth of our Savior together. We hope that all of you had a joyous holiday and we hope to see some of you next year!
