We're leaving!!!!! YAY!!!!

We FINALLY got some dates! We have 2 shipments going out of the house. The first shipment is called unaccompanied baggage (aka the stuff they will ship over that we'll need to use while we're there like kitchen stuff, clothes, etc.). They are supposed to pick that one up on either Dec. 11th or Dec. 14th. We have yet to confirm THAT. Big surprise there. BUT we have confirmed that Dec. 16th stuff will be the pack/pick up date for the stuff going in storage. That will be mostly furniture since the housing on and off base is furnished. I think the only furniture we're taking is our book shelves and the crib for #4. Then, we fly out at 7am Dec. 18th from Orlando. We will go from Orlando to LA to Tokyo to Seoul. We will arrive at 9:30pm on Dec. 19th. I have a strong feeling that we will be in-processing for Cathryn's birthday (the 23rd). Happy 5th Cathryn. :) At least she will have her Daddy there. Ken is working on getting us a place now that we know when we'll be there. We're praying that he will be able to find a 4 bedroom as the bedrooms are small. So, possibly a week to figure out and sort all the stuff to have them ship and a week after that to organize the stuff to be stored. Not to mention figuring out how many bags to actually bring with us on the plane. Luckily I ordered some Christmas stuff online for the kids & Ken and had it sent straight to Ken's APO address so that we could have something for Christmas. We probably won't have a tree or any decorations, but that's okay. We'll be together and all that stuff doesn't REALLY matter in the grand scheme of things. We'll celebrate Christ's birth simply and use this opportunity to focus more on the true meaning of Christmas.

I'm so glad that you finally have a date to look forward to! And so quickly too. I'm so glad you'll get to spend Christmas together. I thought that the Army didn't send out the families until they already had adequate housing ready for them?

We're going to live off base for now; possibly the whole time. Ken's apartment hunting. Ken put us on the on base housing waiting list, but if we like it off base enough by the time our turn rolls around, we can give it to the next person on the list. The wait is 6-12 months for on base housing anyway.
