Alabama Trip

We took a quick trip up to Alabama this past weekend. We stayed at my parents' house and visited my brother's family. I'll probably break up the pictures into a couple of different posts. Monday we went to my brother, Aaron's, house and went fishing. It was early afternoon, so nothing was really biting, but it was the kids' first time doing it. They had a lot of fun. Cathryn kept saying she didn't want to fish; just wanted to watch the fishing. But she ended up out on the small dock with Ken. Blake got really good at casting by himself. Monday night my brother's family came over for dinner and one last chance for the kids to play.
Sunday we went to church at my parents' branch. Ken got the bright idea to take the dirt road back to the house, after it had been raining all weekend. My dad doesn't even take that road if it's been raining, as far as we know anyway. Aaron and his family came over for dinner and playtime. Blake & Cathryn had a sleepover Sunday night with their cousins. I hear everyone had a blast, at least the kids anyway.
Saturday we got up and went down to Mobile to the USS Alabama Battleship and USS Drum Sub. The kids had a blast looking at all the old stuff. It rained a little bit, but we didn't get that wet. I'll have to post those pictures later because I don't think it will take them in one post, along with the others. When we got back, we got our Valentine's Day surprise. My parents offered to watch all 8 kids (including 2 nursing babies) while the adults went out to eat at MY favorite Mexican restaurant. We got back home and found Grammy holding Melodie ( my 8 mon. niece) and Papa holding James. It brought back memories to Aaron & me of when the twins were babies. We had lots of fun, got a chance to relax, and had one last trip with Ken before he leaves for basic training. All in all, it was a great visit. Can't wait to see them all again! Maybe it's their turn to come down here!Cathryn & Ken fishingThomas & BlakeThe car after the dirt road experience, AFTER rinsing it off. Ellie, Lorie, Sadie, & Cathryn coloring
