4th of July

This is the first year in a few years that we haven't been up to my parents house in Alabama. I think we've only been in town once for July 4th since we moved here, maybe even got married. I didn't know what to do with myself. No little nieces and nephews gallore underfoot, no Mom's cooking, and no 'spontaneous' fires from Daddy. That's okay though. We decided to go to some friends' house and hang out with them and their family for the evening. We grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, along with having BBQ chicken sandwiches, along with sides. We went to a local park to watch the fireworks the city puts off every year. While the cities fireworks were far away, by the time they started we had seen many 'personal' shows being set off all around us. The kids eventually had their blankies wrapped around their ears because it was so loud. There were some people setting the fireworks off literally right over our heads. Cathryn did better than we thought she would. Blake was tired and didn't enjoy it too much. We bought them sparklers to play with while we waited. Cathryn loved it and waved it around like crazy. Blake got stung once and took a break for a while until it got a little darker. It was a good relaxing day, all in all. Hope everyone else had a good holiday/holiday weekend!
