We got a little camera happy with Tate a couple of days ago. He likes to make faces at people when he's happy. They're hilarious. :)
Monday, Sept. 12th, around 0430, James fell out of bed and started screaming. It was really dark so we didn't see him in any weird position or anything. He was asking for Daddy so I put him in bed with Ken for a bit. Later in the day he would scream every time we picked him up under the arms. We thought it was his ribs, maybe bruised or cracked from the fall. Then Tuesday/Wednesday he all but stopped using his right arm/hand to do anything. I iced his shoulder Wed. night and he seemed to feel better with that and Motrin. Thursday morning he wasn't using his arm at all and he had a small bruise on his right collarbone. So, I took him into the after hours clinic (that's not open after hours, thank you Army) around 9:30am. Ken was able to meet us there and was the one to go in with him so we didn't have 2 kids making noise. The first exam the lady thought it might be a dislocated shoulder. Sent Ken back out to wait for them to call the pediatrician (who is on leave) to authorize x-rays. After almost an hour, they got x-rays and the x-ray tech said possible fractured clavicle. They sent them BACK to an exam room to wait. Lunch time rolled around. They told Ken to leave for about an hour and come back. Everyone was going to lunch, so they said to go feed James and himself instead of just waiting there. FINALLY around 1pm they diagnosis his fractured collarbone officially. They did not have any slings or anything small enough for him. They rigged up an Army 'cravat' and an ace bandage. A trip to the air base nearby is in our future to see if we can find a sling small enough. If not, we'll keep this make-shift brace on to keep in immobile. He should have full range of motion in 3 weeks. I'm scheduling an appointment with the dr. for a follow up whether he does or not. :) He's running around playing like normal. He's learning how to be left handed with some things. It only hurts him when someone bumps it or he bumps it on accident. So that's the story on our 2nd broken bone in the family.
