This is for anyone whom I haven't talked to or emailed about Ken's current news. Well, as current as the Army can get anyway. We found out about 2 weeks ago that they have Ken down as going to Camp Coiner, Seoul, Korea on 7 Nov 2009. He has heard many rumors since then. Some say it's going to be for a year and will count as a deployment. Some say that they are changing some things relating to orders and how/when they are done. Some say that they will have a choice to go for a 1 year deployment OR a 2 year accompanied. There is no on base housing and off base housing is expensive and small. We decided that if the choice arises, Ken will do the 1 year deployment and get it out of the way for now. BUT . . .
This is all unofficial at this point. The only way Ken knows anything is because it has Camp Coiner and the date on his AKO (Army Knowledge Online) account as his first assignment. However, that is ALL the information it has. It could also change up to a week before Ken graduates. He will not get his orders until then, which is the last week in Sept. We will keep everyone informed of what we find out for sure, which so far has been nothing. We're praying for a change in orders, but there is nothing we can do if they don't change it.

I would recommend never getting on-base housing. Best to leave work behind when the day is done.
Small apartments/houses are better than large ones for many reasons. Don't let that deter you. Living abroad would be great for all of you.
